Why are there so many different standardized test results? What should I be looking for?
The Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) and Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) were last administered in 2013. These tests were replaced by the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC) in Spring 2015. We are currently maintaining some historical data on CMT and CAPT, but if you are interested in current test performance, you want the SBAC reports.

Why is this site even necessary?
Choosing the right school for your child can be difficult! It is important to consider many factors when choosing a school, beyond just one measure of school performance. The data reports and tools on this site tell a more complete picture of school performance and growth and can be used as a guide to help make the best choice for you and your child. In addition, we know that data questions arise, and there is no quick way to get a response. In partnership with HPS, we are hoping to make such a resource available. Lastly, school performance too often boils down to one indicator – performance on state tests. Achieve Hartford believes that additional indicators, such as attendance, behavior, retention, principal and teacher turnover and more are all important to tell the full story of school performance.
